Yesterday I didn’t have time to journal.
I got to school and found that my photocopies were not made, despite the fact I requested them 24 hours earlier. Now, let me say that I LOVE the fact that there is a science assistant, and that she makes my photocopies. This was an amazing, earth-shattering discovery that such a thing could be possible. It makes my life so much easier, most of the time.
Except yesterday, where didn’t have their class activity, or homework to give them.
Then I had homeroom. Boundary pushing, boundary pushing, boundary pushing. So tiring.
Then I had glassware to clean from demos, that I couldn’t get clean. Scrub, scrub, scrub, sigh.
Then I dashed home, and had to do piles of copying, form-filling out, and other paperwork for student loans and for my emergency permit.
Then I dashed (leaving my daughter for the second time that day) to catch someone who needs to sign a form for my emergency permit. I missed him by about two minutes because visitor parking was ridiculously hard to find. The street wasn’t marked from one direction. So I left my stuff, and hoped for the best.
I couldn’t wait, because I had a dentist appointment. A four hour dentist appointment. Not having dental insurance, we are taking advantage of the dental school in town and having our teeth cleaned (and x-rays, and flouride) for $30. However, as I’m checking in I discover they only take cash or check. I am about 5 dollars short. So I run across the street into the performing arts building, where there is (thankfully) an ATM. I get lost and end up in the basement somehow, running through hallways for performers. I’m struggling not to cry because I miss my daughter so much.
Then I hold my mouth open for two hours. Fortunately, my student was experienced, fast, and gentle. It may take three or four hours total, but my teeth have never been so clean. They get graded on every tooth, and they have all the time in the world. My teeth are fine.
I get home, and baby is in bed. I have been away from her for a record total or eight hours. Then I sit down and grade (see previous post for how that went).
I’m glad all my days aren’t like that.
